Engineering and Science Week at Louisiana Tech University has been
connecting alumni, students, and the public since its inception in
1934. This years events include E&S Day (April 28), Spring
Release (April 29), the E&S Ball (May 1), and the E&S Majors
Competition.
E&S Day
Since its inception in 1934, E&S Day helps to introduce prospective
students to post secondary education at Louisiana Tech
University. The students are given a presentation by a leader in
the Engineering and Science Profession, shown several exhibits by
current E&S students at Tech, and also given the opportunity to
participate in a game utilizing real engineering principles.
The annual Spring Release crawfish boil helps bring together students and
faculty of the College of Engineering and Science to enjoy an afternoon
outside of the classroom. This event also features an award
ceremony where the outstanding students for the year are
announced. Tickets for this event are in the form of t-shirts,
and will be available for purchase in early April.
The E&S Ball
Each year, the students of the College of Engineering and Science
gather for the E&S Ball to celebrate the past school year and enjoy
a night on the town. Tickets for this event will be available for
purchase in early April.
E&S Major Competition
The second annual E&S Major Competition pits the different
departments of the College of Engineering and Science against each
other in tests of non-engineering skill to determine which department
is the best. The event features activites such as including
ice-cream eating, dizzy bat race, and other tests of skill. Last
years champion was the Biomedical Engineering Department.
